9 ways to tank your patient support program
Want to dismantle your program’s ability to serve patients? Look no further! Follow these 9 easy steps to crater support faster than a health insurance denial.
-
Don’t listen to patients. Why seek the input of those with lived experiences? Their “feedback” will only slow progress and you’ve got a deadline.
-
Provide poor resources. Leave patients navigating a website straight from the 90s with expired info and broken links. Your budget doesn’t include UX and QA.
-
Lack accountability. Abandon program metrics so you’ll never know what’s working (or not!). Besides, showing metrics might actually reveal the truth about patient adoption and dropoff.
-
Disregard diversity. A “one size fits all” approach can’t possibly resonate with all. Uniqueness is overrated anyway. Personalized healthcare is a just for the scientists.
-
Disconnect silos. Silos protect fiefdoms - who cares if the right hand never knows what the left is doing? This program belongs to medical affairs, not commercial and definitely not those folks digital health or patient engagement.
-
Undervalue empathy. Brush off compassion for a production line, one-way mindset. Patients are numbers, not people.
-
Stifle support. Disable comments, hide your email address, and limit customer support. Experience stress-free weekends!
-
Fail to adapt. The world changes daily but your program must remain static. Upkeep and originality is expensive and your budget was only for the launch.
-
Ignore purpose. What’s the point of actually helping patients? Maximize your messaging, not impact. Numbers don’t lie, people do!
This is my ‘anti-blueprint’ 🚫 - no one actually does this on purpose, but sometimes shortcuts are taken, critical activities are missed, or budgets are cut from the top.
To build amazing patient support programs, just do the reverse. Each weakness becomes a strength. And your patients will thank you.
